Cicero Highway Department 2025 Brush Schedule

Brush Collection Guidelines

  • Brush services include grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs, and shrubs—no dirt is allowed.
  • Tree limbs must be less than 8 inches in diameter and no longer than 6 feet in length, with cut ends facing the street.
  • Please note: Tree removal and land clearing are not part of the curbside brush collection program.
  • Small brush, branches, leaves, grass clippings, mulch, and raked materials must be placed in biodegradable bags only—no other containers will be accepted.
  • Each bag or bundle should weigh no more than 50 pounds.
  • Hired contractors must obtain a Town of Cicero permit and are responsible for their own debris removal.

Trash Collection Schedule 

Regularly scheduled trash collection will be delayed one day when the following holidays fall on a weekday.

New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

TRASH PICKUP

Trash must be in plastic bags and placed inside covered plastic or metal containers, not to exceed 50 pounds. There is a limit of 8 trash bags (up to 30 gallon in size). Trash bins are required for trash pickup in compliance with Section 177-12 of the Town Code.

Superior Waste is obligated to pick up normal household waste only ( everyday trash from Kitchen, Bathroom & Office )

Items that Superior Waste will NOT collect, as part of the contract:  hazardous waste, wet paint, tires, batteries, furniture, TV’s, monitors, computers, construction material or debris (including deck/fencing material), motor vehicle or any part thereof, swimming pools (including liner or cover), outdoor statuary or similar decorations, central heating/AC units or components, any unit containing or has previously contained gas or oil, swing sets, slides, basketball units, or any similar children’s large recreational apparatus, and yard waste (including dog waste).

Failure to comply may result in a Code Enforcement violation notice.

If you choose, you may contact Superior Waste at 315-672-3174 for a quote on collection of items not covered under contract, or review acceptable items at OCRRA’s transfer station. Visit www.ocrra.org/locations for details.

To dispose of household toxics, visit www.ocrra.org/toxics to review the list of items accepted in OCRRA’s household hazardous waste program. Appointments are required.

PAPER AND CARDBOARD – recycle office paper, mail (including window envelopes), newspaper, magazines, softcover books, and paperboard (cereal and pasta boxes). Cardboard boxes must be flattened and cut into pieces no larger than 3’x3’. Boxes from the refrigerated or frozen food sections of the grocery store are treated with a moisture-resistant lining and belong in the trash.

PLASTIC– pay attention to the shape. ONLY recycle bottles, jugs, jars and wide mouth stackable tubs made specifically for dairy and dairy alternative products.

METAL– recycle food and beverage cans. Wad up aluminum foil, disposable aluminum pans and plates.

GLASS– recycle glass food jars and beverage bottles only.

The Town does NOT have a junk pickup schedule.
