The Town of Cicero this month received notification from the New York State Department of Transportation that a three-color traffic signal will be installed at the intersection of Route 31 and Cicero Center Road during this year’s construction season. As many in our community already know, this is a treacherous intersection that has been the site of numerous motor vehicle accidents over the years, some of them fatal. Blinking lights have been in place at the intersection and they were obviously ineffective since the accident rate at the site has remained high. The Town, over the years, has been insistent that this intersection required a three-color signal light so the announcement by the NYS DOT for a new signal light is good news indeed.
